Environmental Compliance Consultant/Engineer - NY - JR17847

We are currently looking for environmental consultants/engineers to support the environmental permitting and compliance needs of our clients in the New York/Pennsylvania/Metro area, to be based in our Rochester and Syracuse, NY offices.  This position will require the application of technical knowledge to solve an array of real-world environmental permitting and compliance problems, including the gathering and use of data to evaluate existing and potential impacts to air, water, wastewater, safety, as well as the potential regulatory implications of these impacts.  Are you our new Consultant/Engineer? You will join our Environment and Health department

As our new Consultant/Engineer, you will be part of our diverse, collaborative, and energetic consulting team. This group consists of like-minded individuals who are passionate about assisting Ramboll’s clients with their most challenging problems.

Essential job functions include:

  • Development of reports, plans, permit applications, and other client/regulatory deliverables
  • Performance of engineering data evaluation and calculations in support of client needs
  • Performance environmental regulatory reviews for various compliance programs (air, waste, wastewater, petroleum and chemical storage, Phase I ESAs, etc.)
  • Manage the technical, schedule and budgetary elements of projects
  • Provide regular and consistent communications to clients, regulators and project staff on key issues and developments
  • Gain and share knowledge through participation in technical societies and/or attendance at internal and external programs, to a degree consistent with individual and divisional goals
  • Be a leader in Ramboll’s safety culture, ensuring that our employees work safely
  • Engage with other senior practitioners within Ramboll to advance our brands (energy, water, environment and health) and standing with external stakeholders

A successful candidate for this position will exhibit the following traits: 

  • B.S. in Engineering (Environmental, Chemical, or other related), with 3-5 years of environmental consulting experience preferred
  • Strong ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, to technical and non-technical colleagues and clients;
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply technical regulations; and
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project conditions and needs;
  • Ability to work in teams, as well as exercise individual judgment, as appropriate
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Highly motivated, team-oriented individual to work in a fast-paced environment, with the desire and skills to provide client, project and staff management functions.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills are required.
  • Occasional travel (10-20%), as required.
